Academy Award Winning Movie

      Parody...Schmarody!

Let's face it. I love to impose my love for parodies on my blogging audience. Today—still ruminating in a post Oscar hangover—I will once again temper my dismay at Sunday night's proceedings by bringing to your attention a hilarious parody of "every Academy Award winning movie ever."
This video comes compliments of BriTANicK.com, a popular YouTube channel. They're two fellow NYU Grads by the names of Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher. Without breaking any suspense barriers, they share a common passion for film, and for making entertaining videos. In honor of their video, the remainder of my comments will be delivered in a form blatantly consistent with their video—my favorite example of their dialogue technique is: "inspiring final lines of a speech that douchebags will quote in their Facebook profiles."
From henceforth, great discipline will be exercised to ensure that only a mode of writing comparable to the dialogue form of the video itself will be employed, of course representative of a transparent effort to duplicate its clever and comedic deconstruction of familiar Oscar fare.
A structuralism worthy view driven by an obligatory saturation of cinematic redundancy concerning the Oscar's all-too common selections of Best Picture & Best Director followed by some sort of scathing reference to The King's Speech as the presumptive Oscar-bait film. Commensurate backlash after said film's Best Picture win.
Expressing an abundance of exuberance that is equal to the heightened degree of excellence achieved by the aforementioned viral video while simultaneously levying a despondent charge at the Academy's customary way of honoring regurgitation. Spending a tedious amount of time attempting to drum up a witty comment that others will find original, yet inevitably, be ridiculed, as is the standard practice on the Internet. Last statement reflecting a sarcastic sentiment, certainly not a perceived accusation.
Realizing that subjecting this writing to a publisher would likely result in a get-the-hell outta-here response followed by a hopeful plea to bloggers that this post never sees the light of day. Also, intimating the fact that every sentence that stringently adheres to this form of dialogue constitutes a fragment (consider revising).
Readying a preemptive insult to any random blogger that disagrees with the awesomeness of parodies. Only declarations exuding a euphoric tone will be tolerated. An allusion to the practice of screening comments and the requisite revelation that this blog does not exercise such measures equals fail.
A resolution for everyone to watch this video unless you've seen it in which case, see it again. Expressing a statement of awe wondering how a seemingly regular dude in said video slash poster child for Oscar's love for a certain kind of protagonist can possibly be as ubiquitous as someone who can mentor an underprivileged Latino kid, fight the cause of racial injustice, heroically save lives, take up arms against the military despite a proclivity towards an internally combustible emotional struggle, which ultimately, will manifest itself at the above video's climax—priceless.
Comment followed by a disclaimer to avoid subsequent redaction by stating emphatically that comment is not intended to be racist, sexist, or derogatory in any capacity. Closing with a wistful and nostalgic query that captures the disillusionment of movie lovers who wonder, in unison...why do they never make movies like this anymore?
Ah, that was exhausting. Personal note to myself; for the preservation of my own sanity, I will not subject the above writing to a spell check....because if I did, yikes. Hope you all enjoy the video!

*Music is from Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story Soundtrack and "Far Far Away" by Five Iron Frenzy.

  2. Haha that was the point Dez! In the spirit of teh video, it's an appeal to verbosity while also neglecting sacred rules of grammar

I'm glad you liked the video.

  3. Ok now that I have stopped laughing I might be able to offer a commensurate summation of my sentiments regarding this loquacious and humorous artistic production.

Setting Roget aside, this was a blast and I love your parody posts. I don't feel imposed upon in the least.

  4. Thanks Mel!

This was a great example of execution. Such a broad premise that could easily go awry given its diversity of themes actually works quite well because of its disciplined focus. There is some nice cinematography as well. And I really liked the "Actor desperately trying for an Academy Award."

I'm delighted to know you share in my enthusiasm for parodies!

  10. Ahhh that's awesome Dempsey!

I value your opinion a great deal. The fact that you endorse my work with such applause humbles me.

My job is to provide unique and original insights within the vast confines of the filmmaking universe. If I can provide judicious writing, comedy, and informative content, then for me, it is a job extremely well-done.

Thanks again for the positive feedback!
